Judge Dal Williamson to take oath Dec. 29 in Laurel

Newly elected Jones County Circuit Court Judge Dal Williamson will take the oath of office in a ceremony at 10 a.m. Dec. 29 at the Jones County Courthouse in Laurel. The ceremony will be held in the second floor courtroom.

Mississippi Supreme Court Presiding Justice Jess H. Dickinson will administer the oath of office.

Judge Williamson’s term will begin on Jan. 1, 2015. Trial court judges are elected to four-year terms.

Judge-elect Williamson is a graduate of Jones County Junior College and Mississippi State University. He earned a law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law.

He has practiced law in Laurel and Jones County for 34 years. He is a past president of the Jones County Bar Association, and has served as a Bar Commissioner of the Mississippi Bar. He also has served as president of the Laurel Exchange Club and the Jones County Cattlemen’s Association.

Judge-elect Williamson is married to Cynthia Williamson. They have two adult daughters.
